London Moon

Our last night in London I went to bed late waiting for my hair to at least partially dry. It was too hot to blow dry it (pretty much no AC in London). I crawled in bed and the window was open to let fresh air in. It was a hot and steamy day, but with the windows open at night it felt nice. The air coming from outside even got chilly deep into the night so then I’d have to crawl under the cover and get cozy. (This I loved.)

When I got in bed the last night around midnight, Brandon was already sleeping beside me. I curled up with a pillow, nestled in and looked out the window instinctively for the moon.

When I looked out I saw the top of the Shard all lit up, beaming above the tree line. It was my London moon. It was a goodnight from the city and our big adventure.

This photo is not from that moment. I didn’t take one of my London moon. It wasn’t a picture taking kind of moment. But this is the Shard peeking out above The Tower of London very similarly to how it peeked out over the tree line later. I love the juxtaposition in this photo—the ancient buildings in the forefront and the modern tippy top of The Shard skyscraper behind it.
