The Bamberg Antique Shop
We were so excited to find this darling antique shop on our roadtrip today. The older man running the shop was so kind. ❤️ I wanted to give him a big hug, but obviously had to refrain. haha
Brandon got a vintage pocket watch and we picked up a unique Bavarian stein. I found a yellow ceramic vase, a few Bavarian religious medals, a vintage postcard (which the shop keeper gave me for free when I asked the price) and an old photo of a lovely woman from Munich. I got an old photo of a woman in Iceland, too. I may have started a new collection.
I asked the shop keeper about the mold of a woman’s face that I saw all over the shop. He said it was from a famous doorknob that was just a few blocks away. She inspired a poet that wrote a fairytale about her (The Golden Pot) in which he named her “Apfelweibla” or “Apple Woman”. He gave us a brochure and directions and off we went to find her with full, happy hearts.
After a short walk, with our map in hand, we found the right spot. I saw a local come out of the building and turn back and touch the doorknob for what I assumed was goodluck, so I told Brandon to do the same.
